Create Your Own Telegram Moderation Bot (Clone Feature)
Create Your Own Telegram Moderation Bot (Clone Feature)
What if you could have your own branded Telegram bot with all the moderation, automation, and group management features of OmniGest -- but with your bot's name, your bot's avatar, and your identity? That is exactly what OmniGest's clone feature offers. You create a new bot through BotFather, run a single command, and your personalized moderation bot is live.
What Is the Clone Feature?
Cloning lets you create an independent copy of OmniGest that runs under a different bot account. Your clone has its own username, profile picture, and description on Telegram, but it inherits all of OmniGest's features: moderation, anti-spam, word filters, AI moderation, custom commands, night mode, and everything else.
From your group members' perspective, they are interacting with your bot -- not OmniGest. This is perfect for communities that want a branded experience without building a bot from scratch.
How to Create a Clone
The process takes about two minutes.
Step 1: Create a Bot with BotFather
Open Telegram and start a conversation with @BotFather. Use the /newbot command to create a new bot. Choose a name and username for your bot. BotFather will give you a bot token -- a long string of characters that looks like 123456789:ABCdefGhIjKlMnOpQrStUvWxYz.
Keep this token safe. Do not share it publicly.
Step 2: Send the Clone Command
In a private chat with OmniGest, use the /clone command followed by your new bot's token:
/clone YOUR_BOT_TOKEN_HERE
OmniGest verifies the token, connects to your new bot, and sets it up with all features enabled. Within seconds, your clone is live and ready to be added to groups.
Step 3: Customize Your Bot
Go back to BotFather and customize your bot's appearance:
- Set a profile picture with
/setuserpic. - Write a description with
/setdescription. - Add an about text with
/setabouttext. - Configure the command menu with
/setcommands.
Your bot now has its own identity while running on OmniGest's infrastructure.
For detailed instructions, see the Clone documentation.
What Clones Include
Every clone gets the full OmniGest feature set:
- Anti-spam and anti-flood protection
- Word filter with configurable actions
- Captcha verification for new members
- Welcome messages and rules display
- Night mode with scheduling
- Custom commands for group-specific responses
- Modlog for admin action tracking
- Log channel for real-time audit trails
- AI moderation for content detection
- Channel subscription enforcement
- Scheduled messages for recurring announcements
Clones receive feature updates automatically. When OmniGest adds a new capability, your clone gets it too without any action on your part.
Use Cases
Community Brands
If you run a community with an established brand -- a gaming clan, a tech meetup, a hobbyist club -- a clone bot reinforces your brand identity. Combined with the right admin guide strategies, a branded bot elevates the entire member experience. Members interact with "YourCommunity_bot" instead of a generic third-party bot.
Agencies and Freelancers
Social media managers and community management agencies can create clones for each client's group. Each client gets their own branded bot, and the agency manages them all through OmniGest. This is a professional offering that adds value to your services.
Multi-Group Networks
If you manage several related Telegram groups, you can create a clone for each with a different name and personality. A sports network might have "FootballMod_bot" for football groups and "BasketMod_bot" for basketball groups, each customized for its audience.
White Label Solutions
Organizations that want a Telegram moderation solution without visible third-party branding can use clones. The bot appears as an internal tool, which is important for corporate groups, government channels, and formal organizations.
Testing and Development
Create a clone to test new configurations without affecting your main group. Experiment with different moderation settings, word filter rules, or AI moderation thresholds on a clone before applying changes to your production bot.
Clone Limits
OmniGest allows up to 20 clones per user on the free plan. Each clone can manage one group. This is more than enough for personal use, small communities, and even small agencies.
If you need clones to manage unlimited groups or want additional capabilities, the Premium plan removes these restrictions.
Managing Your Clones
Viewing Active Clones
You can view all your active clones and their status directly through OmniGest. Each clone shows its bot username, the group it is managing, and whether it is currently online.
Stopping a Clone
If you no longer need a clone, you can stop it through OmniGest. The bot goes offline immediately. You can also delete the bot entirely through BotFather if you want to release the username.
Clone vs. Building Your Own Bot
Building a Telegram bot from scratch requires programming knowledge, server infrastructure, ongoing maintenance, and significant time investment. Here is how cloning compares:
| Aspect | Building from scratch | OmniGest Clone |
|---|---|---|
| Setup time | Days to weeks | 2 minutes |
| Programming required | Yes | No |
| Server costs | $5-50/month | Free |
| Maintenance | Ongoing | Handled for you |
| Feature updates | Manual | Automatic |
| Moderation features | Build each one | All included |
For most communities, cloning provides 100% of the functionality at a fraction of the effort and cost.
